Bell Gage Helmet Matte Titanium Stripes-S 51-55cm
No,"Gage"isn't a typo or misspelling - it's intentional. On Gage Avenue--3633 to be exact--in the town of Bell, just outside of Los Angeles is the site of what's widely regarded as the world's first automative speed shop. "Bell Auto Parts" read the sign on the roof, with the words "Racing Equipment" slung over the door. It's where people went when they wanted to go fast...and if that sounds like something you're into--going fast--we humbly suggest Gage is where you should go too.
Weight: 240 g
Certifications: CE EN1078, CPSC Bicycle

Bell GageJan 15, 2013
If you recognize the difference between Bell and Giro fits, this one just seems to be MORE Bell. A little rounder and little snugger when tightened up. Feels great on my noggin, but Bells have always fit well. Lightweight and good ventilation. Retention system feels great and new strap material is a nice change, though locks on the side seem like they may have a tendency to slip.
One note. I can normally wear anything from a medium gauge merino wool cap to a craft windstopper to a thick Walz cap under my previous Bell Sweeps and Bontrager Team Helmets, but it's a much tighter squeeze to get anything but the lightest caps inside this medium. So if majority of riding in cooler temps, would try a size up to see if it's necessary.
Overall feels like a great lid.

Smallest helmet that fits.Apr 19, 2013

This is the only size medium helmet that fits my big head. I no longer need to wear an even bigger helmet for my big head, thank goodness.
Very light. Awesome colors.

Great and improved helmetApr 24, 2014
By Thomas Schlereth
I think, that the helmet has improved, compared to the sweep for example.
The colors are dull, but the surface seems to be pretty sturdy. The material used for the pads inside is from x-static
and seem to be better than before. One further plus is the adjustment system. It makes the helmet fits perfectly to my head.
Furthermore the helmet is pretty light and has a good looking shape.
The only weak point might be the straps. They seem to be a bit simple and I don't know yet how durable they will be.
But all in all, I'm pleased with the helmet.

love the comfortApr 04, 2014
Thankfully I can't say how good the protection is from personal experience. But it's very comfortable to wear - easy fit, easy to adjust, and lots of events for airflow (helpful in the heat). Basically forget it's on - which is a good thing! Only thing I can complain about a bit is how the straps fit on the cheeks - they don't come down flat, but with the edges pushing on your cheeks. Still comfortable, but why don't they come down flat?

The Bell Gage: Awesome helmet. Keeps your head cool.Mar 31, 2014
I began road biking recreationally last year. Before this helmet, I had the $15 Bell Adrenaline helmet from Target. While riding with the old helmet, my head was sweaty and hot on every ride. I was looking for a new helmet and came across this one for only $75, brand new. For that price, I figured I would give it a shot. Luckily I haven't had to test it's crash impact performance but here is a little bit about the helmet:
I have a 23.5 inch head and the Large size fits perfectly. This helmet has a nice adjustable system on the back like most high-end helmets do. You can fine-tune your fit by adjusting the tightness around your head. When it comes to weight, this is a light helmet. The large size weighs 272 grams. Not to mention it looks pretty cool.
The most noticable things about this helmet are its air vents. The streamline design seems to vent air from your head extremely well. I have yet to have an overly sweaty or warm head while wearing this. When riding, the helmet sits comfortably on your head and you hardly even notice it.
Overall, I would highly recommend this helmet. It is currently Bell's best helmet and can compete with any of Giro's $250+ helmets. If you are in the market, I would definitely go with the Gage.
